Security system Notes

Installation

CCTV, Intruder and Access control is designed and installed to current British & European standards. All cable running is done to the 18th wiring regulations. Cable is either surface mounted within PVC trunking or stapled or hidden in voids/ceilings where possible.

Control Panels

Control panels for intruder alarms and access control panels require a 240-volt mains power supply which should be installed prior to the security installation. A network connection may be required to an active internet connection to enable remote viewing & control of the alarm system. A spare ethernet port must be available on the internet router.

CCTV DVR / NVR

CCTV recorder units (DVR / NVR) require standard three pin electrical sockets wherever the unit will be installed. A double socket outlet is advisable. A network connection may be required to an active internet connection to enable remote viewing of the CCTV system. A spare ethernet port must be available on the internet router.

Field Devices

Wired intruder alarm detectors use 6 or 8 core CCA alarm cable and carry an ultra-low 12-volt DC current. CCTV cameras use either a 12-volt DC or 24 volt AC power supply with a maximum of a 20 amp current. Depending on the CCTV installation, cable used will be either CAT5 or Coax.

Commissioning

After the system has been installed it will be fully tested and commissioned according to current security standards. Any faults shown will be rectified before leaving site.

Documentation

Upon completion and full payment has been received all relevant documentation will be sent via email. This documentation is everything you need to satisfy insurance, local authorities and the fire brigade. If your system is monitored the relevant account details will be sent to you via email.

Internet Connection

Some intruder and CCTV systems are required to be connected to your home or business router for access to the internet. Some of our systems require access to the admin console on the router to create port forwarding rules. If your router is managed by a third party, then they will need to set this up. DRAM does not take responsibility for routers being reset to default or changed by the end user or third party or ISP which results in these rules being deleted. a setup fee of £25 + vat will be charged if DRAM have to setup these rules after the initial commission of the system/s.

Notes

  • A 240-volt spur is required for all control panels and booster units. The cable used to run the spur should be minimum 1mm Twin and Earth. Unless stated this is not quoted for.
  • The above quotes are based on continuous access to the site with no allowances for waiting time or moving any equipment. All rooms should be accessible for the duration of the install.
  • All cable is installed in white CAT5 or 8 core alarm Cable. Cable is either surface mounted within PVC trunking or hidden in voids/ceilings where possible.
  • It may be necessary to drill holes through walls to gain access to isolated rooms or corridors.
  • Our engineers take every effort to perform a clean and neat installation, where possible we will fill small holes with filler. This quote does not include making good for any building works.
  • All prices displayed exclude VAT
  • Upon accepting the quote and providing an email acknowledgement, a deposit of 30% is payable before any works start.
  • DRAM retain ownership of all installed equipment until payment is received in full. DRAM will disable any electronic systems remotely, pause monitoring services and withhold paperwork until payment disputes are resolved.

Fire System Notes

Installation

Fire detection systems are designed, installed and commissioned to BS5839 Parts 1 and 6. The main fire alarm panel along with any radio boosters require a hard wired 240-volt mains supply. All cable is installed in red FP 30-minute fire resistant cable. Cable is surface either mounted within PVC trunking or hidden in voids/ceilings where possible.

Fire Control Panel & Booster – Wireless

Wireless fire panels come with either 8 or 100 zones. The system is addressable and therefore programmable with each device being given its own unique identifiable text and number, helping the end user locate the specific device in fire. The panel uses a 240-volt mains power supply.

Fire Control Panel – Wired

Wired control panels come in either 2, 4, 8 or 16 zone models. The back-up battery supply will be 24hrs. The system is not programmable and will be run in zones. As a minimum, a separate zone will be run to each floor of the premises, with additional zones installed where floor area is greater than 2000m2.

Field Devices

Optical smoke detectors, heat detectors and carbon monoxide detectors will be installed throughout the building according to the system design. Wireless detectors are powered by lithium batteries which typically last between 4-5 years but can vary depending on the building type and distance between the control panel / booster. Batteries will be changed according to the maintenance schedule. Wired detectors use an ultra-low current of 24 volts. Mains (240 volt and above) cables should not run alongside fire cable.

Commissioning

After the system has been installed it will be fully tested and commissioned according to BS5839.
